Important Notice: Major Declaration

You may declare and/or change your primary and/or second majors until 12 PM, next Monday, October 23 (Shanghai time). Declared primary majors will have priority enrolling in some of the major classes (see notes in Albert for details). First-year students are not eligible to declare your majors at this moment.

Notice on Late Major Declaration or Change

Any major declaration or major change after the sophomore year requires a petition process. Students petition through their academic advisor for approval by the Area Head for the major which the student wishes to join, and final approval by the relevant Dean for the new major. The petition should show how the student can graduate in a reasonable amount of time and how the student has the ability to be successful in the required major courses. The same petition process is required for students seeking to switch their primary and secondary majors.

IT Resources: Academic Software Access

NYU Shanghai offers complimentary access to a selection of commonly utilized academic software, encompassing applications such as MATLAB, SPSS, Stata, Mathematica, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Suite. Shanghai Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) facilitates remote access to these software for free. See detailed instructions.

Global Awards: FAIT Fellowship Virtual Info Session

The FAIT Fellowship is designed for highly talented individuals who want to pursue an IT-related graduate degree and a career in the foreign service. This two-year fellowship program funded by the U.S. Department of State provides academic funding, internships, professional development, and mentorship, and culminates in a career in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist (IMS). Applications for the 2023 cohort are being accepted through January 16.

Undominated Mechanisms

Tuesday, October 17 | 1:30-2:45 PM | Speaker: Jiangtao Li

A mechanism is dominated by another mechanism if the latter mechanism generates a weakly higher ex post revenue for all valuation profiles and a strictly higher ex post revenue for at least one valuation profile. A mechanism is undominated if there is no mechanism that dominates it. We study the class of undominated mechanisms in various environments.
